Paper Size
The standard consumer paper size in New Zealand is A4 which is 210 x 297 mm. It is not uncommon for people to format their documents in US Letter size (8.5 x 11 inches, or 215.9 x 279.4 mm- slightly wider and shorter than A4). This is usually due to not setting the correct settings in your application (many default to the US settings unless changed) or printer driver or obtaining templates or source files from US sources. When we receive a file in this format we will usually scale it to fit, which means shrinking it to fit 210mm wide – but this means that there will be larger margins at the top and bottom (an extra centimeter than would appear from the document).
The paper size convention is quite interesting – with A0 being the standard, and all smaller sizes being 74% of the total area, or half the longest dimension, or the size above. You can read more about it on Wikipedia.
Here is a list of paper sizes that we can print and their standard measurements:
| Size | Measurement | Printing Technology |
| A0 | 841 x 1189 mm | Wide-format |
| A1 | 594 x 841 mm | Wide-format |
| A2 | 420 x 594 mm | Wide-format |
| A3 | 297 x 420 mm | Laser |
| A4 | 210 x 297 mm | Laser |
| A5 | 148 x 210 mm | Laser |
| DL | 99 x 210 mm | Laser |
| A6 | 105 x 148 mm | Laser |
| A7 | 74 x 105 mm | Laser |
We use digital laser technology to print up to A3 size. This gives superior presentation on a range of paper types. We use an ink jet wide-format printer for A2 and larger page sizes. This printer is roll-fed so we are unable to print on supplied paper.
